Purnima Thakur is currently working as Assistant Director (Technical) at the Food Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) in the Quality Assurance Division. She is presently looking after Mobile Food Testing Labs, also known as Food Safety on Wheels (FSWs), which is one of the flagship programs of FSSAI. Besides this, she also takes care of the integrated assessment of food labs in the southern region and UTs. Previously, she worked as Assistant Director (Inter Country) under the Foreign Services category of GoI, CARA of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. She recently completed pan-India research for PMO. She has over 17 years of progressive work experience in public health and nutrition, monitoring, and evaluation of national and international programs funded by the Government of India or UN agencies. She is involved in developing projects, policies, and programs for women and children in India. Her passion is for research, monitoring, and evaluation of social and health programs at the national level. My contributions range from preparing and developing guidelines for nutrition and child policy, training trainers, writing syllabuses and content for magazines and scientific journals, facilitating counseling sessions on life skills education, and facilitating adoption processes for international and country parents. Her passion is to create women-led digital projects to empower women in digital literacy. She has represented herself as an expert panelist in the SBCC model for social change for developing WASH and nutrition by UNICEF, in a roundtable discussion on hunger and malnutrition by World Vision, and in the National Conference on “Strengthening Local Response Networks: CSR2 (Cross Sectoral Strategies for Disaster Risk Reduction). She is a member of the Epidemiology Society of India, the Indian Public Health Association, the Nutrition Society of India, and an academic member of the Academic Committee of the Advance Diploma in Child Guidance and Counseling under IP University. She is currently pursuing a PhD in epidemiology and public health.
