Completed Bachelors and master’s degree in Fisheries at Fisheries College in Mangalore and obtained Ph.D. from Cochin University of Science and Technology. Initially worked as an Outreach Expert in the areas related to Agriculture, Aquaculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Dairying and Fisheries. Later as a Research Scientist handled more than 14 both National & International Research Projects in the areas of Fresh water prawn, shrimp, and other aquaculture systems. Also headed Inland Fisheries Division of the University of Agricultural Science, Bangalore and published more than 75 publications. Enrolled member of 8 Professional Bodies (National & International). Recipient of Fellowship and Awards (Junior & Senior Research Fellowship and Young Scientist Award, Best Extension Workers Award and Fellowship for International Training). Served as Chairman / Member of various National Committees for preparing policy documents, scheme guidelines and evaluation of research programs. Has served as Member of RAC of ICAR Institutes for Research Planning and Monitoring of different Fisheries Research Institutes in the Country. Worked as a Chairman of QRT of ICAR for CIFRI, Kolkata.I worked as Senior Executive Director and later as Chief Executive of National Fisheries Development Board. Also served as Dean of Post Graduate Studies in University of Agriculture Sciences (UAS), Bangalore and later became the first Vice Chancellor of University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, Shimoga, Karnataka. Presently working as Vice Chancellor of National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) (Deemed to be University, since July 2017. Striving hard for establishing important facilities for Food Testing Laboratory and Business Incubation, Cold Chain Development, Digitizing Library and creation of other physical infrastructure to make NIFTEM an Institute of National Importance (INI). Serving as member of Scientific Advisory Committee of FSSAI, Member of the Selection Committee for FSSAI and serving as Chairman of Lab Research Council (LRC), DFRL, DRDO, MoD, Mysore.

Over 22 years of experience of working with Food and Beverage Industry including big conglomerates and Academia in Post-Harvest Management, Value Addition, Food Processing, Fermentation and Bio valorization. Flair for conducting basic and applied research in diverse facets of Post-Harvest Technology with an objective to ensure that the work has a good scientific base and gets translated to something productive and beneficial for the end users. Passionate about publishing in reputed National and International journals so that the scientific knowledge spreads far and wide and some of the results translate to technologies ultimately helping the end users or stakeholders.
